Like with most businesses there are quiet and busy periods, but to ensure you are able to secure an order, it's always best to give as much notice as you can. Apart from being extra busy at times such as Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day etc, I am also busy during wedding season and popular birthday months. 

Whilst I can sometimes accommodate an order request with as little as 3 days notice, it is VERY rare and I am often fully booked 2-3 weeks in advance.

As ambiguous as this question sounds, I actually get asked this exact query often! It's not a simple one to answer. It's a bit like going to a car dealer and asking "how much is a 4 door car?". As we all know there are many factors that determine the price of a car (make, model, features etc) and it is no difference with cakes (albeit the factors are different!).

Here are some of the key factors that affect a cake's cost and if you can supply this information when making an enquiry, it ensures I can give you a price guide much faster:

How many people (approx) is the cake for?

The number of serves required from a cake determines the size of cake needed

Are you planning on cutting your cake into dessert size serves or coffee size serves (coffee size serves are small finger slivers of cake)?

Like the question above, the answer determines what size cake is required

Do you have a particular design or style that you wanted?

It helps to have a rough idea of what design you would like. Although I am more than happy to suggest some design ideas and decorating elements, I do need some idea from the customer. A description of "a jungle cake" often isn't enough information to give an approximate cost as there are so many possible designs for a jungle cake (a simple cake with some fondant jungle leaves will cost less than a cake with handmade fondant jungle animal figurines)

I do offer gluten free options for cakes, cupcakes and brownies (not cookies sorry!), but these options are only for people with minor gluten intolerances. As my kitchen is also producing many baked goods which contain gluten, I cannot guarantee that my treats are 100% gluten free and therefore are not suitable for people with severe gluten intolerances or allergies.

I recommend you order from a cake business that sells certified gluten free products.

The same advice applies to anyone ordering with a nut allergy. While most of my products don't contain nuts (and please ask if they do!), I am baking in a kitchen which is used to prepare goods that contain nuts and I cannot guarantee that the products I use do not contain traces of nuts (either from the factories that the ingredients are produced in or in my own kitchen).

With the wide use of social media nowadays and sites like Pinterest, clients often come across cake designs that they love and want re-created. I completely understand this! However I do not like to copy another cake designer's exact design out of respect to the original creator. I am happy to use the photo as inspiration and put my own spin on it or in some cases I am able to contact the original cake designer and asked their permission to re-create the cake (which some are happy to give!). There are some designs out there that are so widely copied and used by many cake decorators that it's hard to distinguish where the original design originated and I am happy to create a similar design.

But at the end of the day, don't you want a bespoke cake that is unique to your event and not something that thousands of others have had?

4. I will also respond to DM on Facebook and Instagram, but these often get lost amongst all my other DM so it is not the most reliable method of contact

Once you have made contact and I have provided you with costs, design details, flavour options etc and you are wanting to proceed with placing an order, let me know and I will type up your order with all the details and costs and email it to you. This invoice contains my Terms & Conditions and will become our agreed contract once a deposit is paid.

A 25% deposit is required to secure your order date and confirm the booking.

NO!!! There is a common belief amongst brides to be that cake designers charge more for wedding cakes than they do for similar style party cakes. Maybe there are some cake designers out there that do, but majority don't. I cost my cakes based on the size and design, regardless what event the cake is for. This might be where some of the confusion arises, a wedding cake is often a more elaborate design (and more tiers) than most party cakes, and therefore costs more to make will in turn cost the client more.

It's not the event that is raising the cake cost but the actual chosen design.

So please don't be afraid to mention its a wedding cake you are enquiring about! It won't cost you anymore!

This is a service that I do offer for wedding cakes only. Unlike some other cake designers, I don't offer cake tasting/design appointments. I've found it's more enjoyable for couples to taste their cake samples in the comfort of their own home (where they can relax, take their time and openly express their opinions with each other) so I offer the option of a take away sample box that can be booked to be collected at a time and date that is convenient.
